Recognition for excellence in Geography

Our school has been informed by The Geographical Association (GA), that we have achieved the prestigious Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM) status for excellence in teaching and learning in geography. The department first achieved the Secondary Geography Quality Mark in 2017. We were successful in being re-accredited in 2020, and have just learned that we have been successful in achieving the award for the third consecutive time. We are the only school with this award in the Preston area.

The SGQM awards recognises excellence in attainment, curriculum, SMSC, personal development and leadership in schools. All the award winners undergo a rigorous moderation process, and the team of assessors were hugely impressed by the manner in which our school continues to embrace new and innovative approaches to teaching geography. The Secondary Geography Quality Mark promotes effective subject leadership and management, helping subject leaders raise the standards of geography in their schools.
