Sports Day

We held our Sports Day on Thursday 7 July and thankfully we were blessed with excellent weather. Pupils participated in Key Stage groups on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning in field events. Later in the morning, all pupils, teachers and support staff came out on to the school field for our very competitive and entertaining track events. Throughout the two days, around 450 pupils participated in 11 different sporting activities for their individual School House. It was an excellent opportunity for all pupils to enjoy and participate in a very well organised event. Well done and congratulations to Head of Haydock House, Mrs Matthews, and all the pupils in Haydock who participated so well in Sports Day this year to claim the ‘Sports Day House Championship’ with a total of 562 points. Arrowsmith won the Year 7 and 8 track and field categories but narrowly missed out on being crowned the overall winners, finishing on 555 points. Clitherow showed great determination, winning tug of war in the Year 7, 8 and 10 categories overall but ended with a grand total of 536.
